From village walks to short hikes and from cultural tour to laid back afternoons, this region is perfect to quench thirst of all kinds of travellers.
Sankri is a beautiful town arranged at a separation of 162kms from Dehradun in Uttarkashi District. It is situated in the Tons Valley managing great perspectives of the snow-clad Himalayas. Settlement in Sankri is classified in Economy Class and Dormitory. It offers fundamental convenience offices at reasonable price.Sankri is the section point to the picturesque valley of Har-ki-Doon. The base camp for Kedarkantha trek is found only a couple of hundred meters far from Sankri in Sond town.
Sankri is the last village connected by bus and has no telephone connection as of yet (the village was electrified only during 2007). Overall Rating
I have stayed here a couple of times since Sankri is the base village for a number of treks. The sheets and the rooms are quite clean here. Hot water supply is an added bonus. The balcony on the rear side has an excellent view. Food is mostly available in one of the nearby dhabas, though occasionally the Hotel's kitchen is opened. In peak seasons, this place is bustling with trekkers.
Overall Rating
It is literally a transit camp for trekkers. The location being remote it is a decent accommodation. The views from some rooms are very good. Basic amenities provided, clean rooms. Co-operative staff. Hot water subject to number of inmates.
